The First Brass Rail Restaurant in Pittsburgh opened in 1929, at 503 Fifth Avenue, across from the Court House. For the next 75 years Pittsburgher’s as well as guests from all across the country came to experience quality American Food served at a moderate price! The Brass Rail opened at the beginning of the great depression. The specialty of the house was our original ¼ pound burgers, grilled by our own “secret” method that we still use today. We served the burgers with a five cent frosty mug of root beer, a price Pittsburgher’s could afford! Over the years, we at the Brass Rail have strived to maintain our traditions and our commitment to providing the great American food that has won the approval of Pittsburgher’s to generations.
